CHANDIGARH: The Panthic Committee on Jan 14 dominated proceedings at the Akali Dal sponsored Maghi mela conference at Muktsar in Faridkot district where former minister P.S,Badal and from SGPC chief G.S. Tohra were not allowed to speak.

Hardly four speakers had addressed the gathering when a Panthic committee representative, identified as Surjit Singh, moved a resolution reiterating the demand of Khalistan and warned Akali leaders that any party which entered into any pact with the Centre asking for less than Khalistan will face dire consequences.

Akali Dal chief Simranjit Singh Mann, Mr Badal, Mr Tohra and others were silting on the stage when the Panthic Committee resolution was moved.

Among other things, the resolution said the Panth should not fear deployment of the Army in Punjab and added that a befitting reply will be given for this.

The resolution also rejected peace talks with the Centre, saying that the Congress (I) was associated with the powers that be.

Urging Sikhs to forge Panthic unity, the resolution said that process should not be used to kill our own brothers. Rather it should be used against the Centre.
