CHANDIGARH: The Panthic Committee (Dr Sohan Singh) and its five associate militant organisations have made it clear that they will not participate in the elections either directly or indirectly.
In a statement received here on Thursday these organisations said they had no faith in the Constitution under which the elections were being held Apart from nonparticipation in elections these groups will not support any group political party or any independent candidate
The statement warned against their names being exploited overtly or covertly by any candidate or his supporters.
Commenting upon the decision of the AISSF (Manjit) president Mr Manjit Singh to enter the poll fray the statement said he should not mislead the people in the name of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale
The statement refrained from commenting on the stand taken by the Panthic Committee (Manochahal) saying a pamphlet would be issued after discussing all aspects of the situation The effort would be to review the role’ of the Akali Dal other Panthic Committees and Sikh organisations in the light of principles without resorting to personal attacks.
The non-participation in elections should not be called boycott as a boycott implied that the decision was motivated by a protest Or resentment and if the cause of resentment was removed the boycott would be withdrawn. The Statement clarified that these organisations were committed to the achievement of Khalistan
The statement welcomed the decision of the Panthic Committee (Usmanwala) not to participate in the elections.
The statement was issued in the names of Dr Sohan Singh Mr
Harminder Singh Mr Wadawa Singh Mr Mahal Singh and Mr Satinderpal Singh all members of the Panthic Committee. Mr Paramjit Singh Panjwar of Khalistan Commando Force. Mr Gurjant Singh Budhsinghwala of Khalistan Liberation Force Mr Rachpal Singh BTF Mr Sukhdev Singh of Babbar Khalsa International and Mr Baljit Singh of Sikh Student Federation.
