NEW DELHI: Prime Minister VP Singh Tuesday said the Ram Janam Bhoomi Babri Masjid issue should be solved within a period of four months and has suggested the setting up of a three member committee to deal with the matter.
In a statement issued here, Singh has also appealed to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and other parties involved in the Ram Janam Bhoomi Babri Masjid issue for more time to decide how to deal with the problem.
The statement says, “We need time to discuss this issue with all concerned, because this problem is connected with the hearts and minds of everybody. We all can meet together and solve this problem. I need cooperation from those especially who are connected with this issue.
“I suggest the formation of a committee to consider all aspects connected with this subject.” Home Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Finance Minister Madhu Dandavate and chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Mulayam Singh Yadav would be representing the government in the proposed committee.
“I hope this problem would definitely be solved, say in about four months. Names of other members of the committee would be announced within a week’s time,” the prime minister said.
