KOT FATHA (BATHINDA): Congress MP Jagmeet Singh Brar has demanded the setting up of a Human Rights Commission in Punjab to check police excesses.

Addressing a well-attended public conference last week at Kot -Fatah 22 km from here Mr. Brar suggested that arc tired judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court should be made chairman of the commission and eminent jurists’ lawyers and Human rights activists its members. He said that militant’s violence had almost ended in Punjab but the official nun was still on people. Brar said that tune deeds of people were still in jail without trial. he demanded the release of innocent persons Brar demanded autonomy for Punjab within the frame- work of Indian Constitution as decided by the Sarkaria Commission set up to describe the Center state relations.

Receiving anti-Sathuj Yaniuna Link canal resolution from 60 Panchayats ‘of Bathinda District Brar declared that he would oppose the completion of SYL Canal inside and outside parliament  Brar alleged that feudal Akai leadership was responsible for Operation Bluestar in the Golden temple complex in 1984 Alkalis never fought for Sikh he added. He appealed to the people that they should be aware of these Akali leaders who had let them down every time in every field. In the same tone Brar announced that he had great respect for acting Jathedar of Shri Akal Takhat Sahib prof Manjit Singh and he would join the religious procession at Muktsar led by Jathedar Prof Manjit Singh which would be taken from Amritsar to Tal wandi Sabo in April.

 Brar condemned the role of Pakistan in Kashmir affairs and said that Kashmir was an integral part of India. The defeat of Pakistani resolution on hue man rights violations at Geneva Conference indicated that in opinion on Human rights violations did not agree with Pakistan acquisition. He also condemned the U.S for supplying F-16 war planes to Pakistan against the presser’s charter.

 Brar also demanded the release of Ranjit Singh Jathedar of Shri Akal Takhat Sahib who had been languishing in Tihar jail for the last 11 years .He wondered that when Phoolan Devi could be released who had murdered hundreds of people why jathedar Ranjit Singh could not be released who had done nothing against the law.
