Muzaffabad— President Mohammad ZiaulHaq said here today that Pakistan was trying its best to solve the Kashmir issue which was an obstacle between India and Pakistan’s good relations through peaceful negotiations.
Addressing a mammoth public meeting here at the AJK Legislative Assembly ground President ZiaulHaq said Pakistan would never give up the Kashmir issue and would continue its endeavor to resolve it according to the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiri people and United Nations resolutions.
The President said that Pakistan wanted to live in peace with India and it was because of this desire that Pakistan has launched a ‘peace offensive.’ Although there were difficulties but these efforts have met with successes. It was possible due to Pakistan’s sincere desire to live in peace within the country and with our neighbor.
President ZiaulHaq said Pakistan fully supported liberation struggle of the Kashmiri people and reiterated that Pakistan would continue its support based on principles. The President said that we had tried to solve this problem and would also continue our efforts to resolve it in future also.
Developmental Aid
The President said during last eight years Government of Pakistan had provided funds generously to the Azad Government from Rs. 1 crore during 1955-60 Five-year Plan to Rs. 400 crore during the Sixth Five year plan. Alone in current fiscal year, the President said, more than Rs. 100 crore had been earmarked for Azad Kashmir out of which more than Rs. 55 crore were to be sent on developmental projects.
President ZiaulHaq said after the founding of Azad Kashmir till today the Pakistan Government had provided in all Rs. 2600 crore to the Azad Kashmir Government for uplift and development of the area and the people of Azad Kashmir.
