UNITED NATIONS NY: (PTI): Pakistan has decided against moving a resolution for a fact finding mission to Kashmir failing to muster sufficient support among the Islamic countries, several of whom were unhappy over the move, diplomats said.

Islamabad was planning to move the resolution in the humanitarian and social committee which makes recommendation to the gencral assembly.

During the last few days, diplomats said, Pakistan had been offering to make some changes in the Original text and at one stage “fact finding mission” was changed to simple “mission” to &el More members to support it.

The idea was to involve the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) and Pakistan wanted some other nations to move it. Among them was Saudi Arabia. It also wanted 10 associate names of Asian, European and Latin American states with the sponsors to show that it enjoyed a wide support. Diplomats attending the OIC meeting said most members expressed relief over Islamabad’s decision as they favor India and Pakistan solving the issue through bilateral negotiations.

Pakistani sources said the move has only been “deferred” but others classes to OIC said the question of its revival does not arise.
