NEW DELHI (PTI): A six member delegation led by S.R. Poonegar, secretary, water and power, government of Pakistan called on the union minister of water resources Vidya Charan Shukla in the Indian capital New Delhi.
The delegation is in India for the 8th round of talks on Tulbul navigation project on the river Jhelum downstream Wullar lake,
Talking to the delegation the minister stressed the need of an early and amicable settlement regarding the issues associated with’ the project for mutual benefit.
Shukla suggested that in addition to the issues associated with Indus waters treaty, India and Pakistan should jointly discuss issues like drainage, canal lining and other matters of technical expertise so that both countries can benefit extensively from each other’s experiences.
The leader of the Pakistani delegation assured the minister that talks between the two sides will continue and efforts will be made to find out a mutually beneficial solution to the problem, says an official release.
