ISLAMABAD (PTI): Pakistan president Farooq Ahmed Khan Leghari commenting on the just concluded Indo-Pak foreign secretary level talks said there could not be an immediate solution to the long-standing issue of Kashmir

Pakistan participated in the talks with all sincerity as it desires a peaceful negotiated settlement to the issue the president said while talking to reporters in Karachi last week at the Pakistan naval academy where he had gone to attend the 60th Midshipman commissioning parade. Leghari said India’s acceptance that Kashmir is disputed territory is a step forward in recently concluded talks between India and Pakistan. During his visit to Islamabad for the Parley’s Indian foreign secretary J.N.Dixit had called on Leghari who had expressed Pakistan’s desire to have peaceful and negotiated settlement of all issues with New Delhi. The Islamabad talks the President ‘Said was a chain in the same direction ‘but emphasized that Kashmir issue was the most intricate issue and one should not expect immediate results. He underlined the need for finding a ultimate peaceful solution. Charging India with violating human rights in the valley Leghari said Islamabad would be raising this issue at the United Nations human rights commission.
