NEW DELHI: India claims it has no fresh evidence to believe that Pakistan has abandoned its clandestine nuclear weapons programme according to officials here.

The officials said though India had noted Pakistan’s atomic energy commission chairman Munir Khan’s assertion of his country not possessing nuclear weapons it did not have evidence to believe the assertion.

The officials said India’s reaction had been that ion had been that Pakistan nuclear programme was clandestine and weapon oriented. India is aware of this and has taken steps to safe guard its security they added.
