ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Air Force has strengthened its air defense for safeguarding nuclear facilities at Kahuta and is fully capable of dealing with any external threat, according to Air Vice Marshal Baharul Haq, Deputy Chief of air staff operations, reports PTI.
Hagq said although Pakistan had signed an agreement with India not to attack each other’s nuclear installations, the air force was alert to check any intrusion.
Briefing newsmen on the high lights of the annual air force exercise high mark 89, he said the recently inducted Chinese F7P aircraft which are considered an upgraded version of Mig 21 would demonstrate its capabilities under simulated conditions.
Pakistan he said, had acquired 40 such aircraft of 100 which would be supplied by China with in a three year period.
Haq said the exercise would be integrated with Zarb E Momin Pakistan Army’s biggest ever war exercise scheduled to be held next month.
He said India had been briefed about the exercise.
Replying to a question he said it would be difficult for Pakistan Air force to match the number of air craft in the Indian fleet but in skill and training, he claimed that PAF maintained its superiority over the TAF,
Hag said funds were at present not available for the purchase of AWACS.
