Union City: CA: The management of WSN, honored its supporters, the Sikhs of the Bay area at The Kennedy Hall, here last weekend.
Mr. HLS. Bhullar, the Manager of WSN giving a brief history of the paper said, “it is the only paper in English for the Sikhs, at present in the whole world, which has survived for so long.” Dr. G.S. Grewal the President of WSN said, “The success of the paper is due to its loyal and committed readers.” He also introduced the staff and the directors of WSN corporation present there. Dr. Grewal appealed to all to extend full support to the paper and introduce WSN to their friends and relatives.
Mr. BS. Ragi, welcoming one and all said, “We should function like Jews and socialize with other people in USA.” Stressing that media is important to Sikhs, he said, “Without pen nations die.”
Mr. H.S. Dosanjh narrated the hardships faced by a newspaper. He talked at length the experience his late father S. Amar Singh Dosanjh (leader, journalist and orater) had while editing Akali Patrika in Punjab. He stressed the importance of feedback from readers. His door to door campaign for WSN was appreciated by management.
Dr. A.P.S. Sandhu, a prominent Sikh of Bay area, noted the importance of English press and he outlined that money alone will help
WSN to achieve the desired goal. Thanking the audience he declared that more than 300 new subscriptions had been received that night,
Dr. G.S. Dhillon said, “WSO along with WSN are committed to the liberation of Khalistan.” He requested those present to make WSN, the voice of Sikhs more strong.
WSN management presented a plaque and honored the following; Dr. Ajitpal Singh Sandhu, Balbir Singh Ragi, Gurpartap Singh Basrai, Dr. Sarbjit Singh Hundal, Dulat Singh Nijjar, Dr. Joginder S. Ghuman, Ajit S. Chattha, Dr. Pritpal Singh, Mohan S. Kapoor, Bhupinder Nijjar, Harbhajan S. Dosanjh, Narinder S. Dosanjh, Mrs. Gurbax Kaur Kahlon, Baljit S. Grewal and Rajinder Singh Bling.
Mr. Narinder Singh Somal, the Secretary of the WSN Corporation thanked all for the healthy response. There after a sumptuous dinner was served.
- Jagjat Singh Jagga along with the Shan E Punjab musical group, enlivened the evening to everyone’s delight. Devotional and patriotic songs set the ball rolling to be concluded by Bhangra which was performed by audience members, who could not resist the musical journey to their native Punjab.
