NEW DELHI: Leaders of all major Opposition parties have welcomed the demand of the National Human Rights Commission for the repeal of the Terrorist and, Disruptive Activities Act (TADA), describing it as a “bad law.” The principal Opposition party, the BJP, and though it was of the opinion that TADA was required to curb Terrorism its misuse left it with no option but to back the demand for repeal of the legislation.
It is spokesman K, b, Sharma said the party had expressed apprehensions when the law was enacted that it could be misused for political ends. Not only the State but also the Center had grossly abused any controversial Act by directing it against political enemies.
