JALANDHAR: A non-resident Indian from New York who got allotment of a plot here under the NRI quota last month after 12 years following intervention by Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh has complained to him of having been cheated both in respect of the site and price of the plot
In a letter to the Chief Minister copies of which were released to the press here Gurinder Pal Singh said he was charged Rs 520 per square yard instead of the prevailing rate of Rs 170 per square yard for the one kanal plot allotted to him in phase two of urban estate here. Secondly he said plot number 63 reserved for an NRI was given to a non-NRI allotted who had already been allotted plot number 529. He alleged that the Jalandhar estate officer transferred” the NRI plot to an on-NRI in April despite knowing that Gurinder Pal was only claimant for NRI plot.
