JOURNALIST: Mr. Ambassador, Indian Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi compared enemies of his ruling Congress (I) party to the enemies of the nation.

AMBASSADOR: That’s Right.

JOURNALIST: In the regime of his mother, Indira was laboriously projected as synonymous to India and promoting Indira ‘was supposed to promote India.

AMBASSADOR: Very correct.

JOURNALIST: Does it mean opposing Nehru dynasty may be classified as high treason against the country?

AMBASSADOR: Not in national interest to disclose.

JOURNALIST: Mr. Ambassador, Foreign affairs experts in India feel that India should concentrate on improving relations with China and stop worrying about Pakistan.

AMBASSADOR: That’s right.

JOURNALIST: At the same time they say that Pakistan remained India’s only military competitor in South Asia because of the military aid it receives from China and U.S.A.

AMBASSADOR: Very Correct.

JOURNALIST: Don’t you think the experts want India to break Pakistan’s spine by befriending China and USA rather than involving in direct confrontation with Pakistan?

AMBASSADOR: Not in national interest to disclose.

JOURNALIST: Mr. Ambassador, External Affairs Ministry of India has described as baseless newspaper comments in Pakistan alleging that the ethnic riots in Hyderabad (Pakistan) were engineered by India’s elite Black Cat commandos.

AMBASSADOR: That’s right.

JOURNALIST: On the other hand India has conveyed its “concern and indignation” to Pakistan against the alleged infiltration of 100 saboteurs into Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.

AMBASSADOR: Very Correct.

JOURNALIST: How can India declare Pakistani charge as baseless when day in and day out it keeps making similar charges against Pakistan? Does it mean India knows that such charges generally have no basis?

AMBASSADOR: Not in national interest to disclose.
