NEW DELHI(PTI): A new ac on plan to generate 2000 mm of electricity through nonconventional sources has been formulated by the Indian ministry of nonconventional energy sources,
The plan envisages tapping on energy from wind, solar biogas and hydel plants and would cost between Rs 60,000 million and Rs 70,000 million which is to be garnered through institutional, private sector financing along with multilateral and bilateral aid, The action plan also incorporates rural electrification using solar photovoltaic cells and recycling of industrial and municipal waste for power generation.
The plan was outlined by nonconventional energy resource minister Krishna Kumar at a Press conference here, reports the business standard.
The government would provide fiscal benefits, tax holidays, depreciation allowances and attractive price for power given to the grid as incentives for entrepreneurs. The ministry is considering a proposal to set up a tidal power plant in the gulf of Kutch to be set up al 2 cost Of Rs 40,000 million and having an energy potential of 8,000 to 9,000 mw, the minister said. They said the grant of 195 million dollars was being provided by the world bank from the global environment fund to tap energy from wind, hydel projects and so Jar photo voltaic.
