GANDHINAGAR: Right Wing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members staged a walkout in the state assembly of the western Indian state of Gujarat Wednesday by raising slogans demanding 10 kgs of food grains for primary school students under the mid-day-meal scheme.

The BJP members except Ashok Bhatt walked out led by leader of the opposition in the house Keshubhai Patel.

Noisy scenes and slogan shout were witnessed when BJP members who entered the house after the recess continued to protest against the discontinuation of distribution of 10 kg of wheat to the primary students under the scheme.

Speaker Himmat Mulani drawing the attention of the leader of the opposition said the house could not transact business in this manner. However BJP members walked out shouting slogans that “children were starving.”

Congress-I and ruling Janata Dal Gujarat members remained silent spectators.
