NEW DELHI: Indian human resources development minister Arjun Singh Thursday welcomed the award of Nobel Peace Prize to Aung San Suu Kyi of Myanmar, saying it was “a fitting tribute to the indomitable will of a frail freedom fighter”.

In his message from Paris, where Singh is leading an Indian delegation to the UNESCO, the minister said “it is indeed heartening to know that Aung San Suu Kyi, daughter of the legendary freedom fighter and martyr of Burma Aung Sang has been awarded the Nobel Peace prize. She deserves the congratulation of all freedom loving people of the world”. Singh quoted the lines of Rabindranath Tagore to welcome the recognition granted to Suu Kyi.
