LUCKNOW: The external affairs minister, Dinesh Singh, on April 17 said the investigating agencies probing the March 12 bomb blasts in Bombay had so far not provided any concrete proof of direct involvement of Pakistan.

The minister told reporters that the Pakistan Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, during the SAARC summit at Dhaka had assured the Prime Minister, P.V. Narasimha Rao, that Pakistan would assist India in the investigations and hand over the Memon brothers besides Setting up a special task force for the purpose.

Replying to questions, the minister said at the moment the relations with Pakistan were not good and stressed the need for improving them by resolving the disputes through negotiations in the spirit of Shimla Agreement. He added Pakistan would have to change its anti -India stance and come forward sincerely for mutual cooperation.

Dinesh Singh ruled out any possibility of war between the two countries.

In reply to a question he said, “There was no change in the basics of our foreign policy but now our stress is on economic diplomacy.”
