Chandigarh: No Nomination papers have yet been filed for five of the 13 Lok Sabha and more than half of the 117 Assembly constituencies in Punjab which go to the pols on February 19. Only 16 candidates have filed nominations for the remaining eight Lok Sabha seats The Lok Sabha seats for which no nominations have been filed so fare are Taran Taran.
Gurwaspur Phillaur Ropar and Patiala. An independent filed his nomination for the Ferozepur Lok Sabha seat taking the total number of nomination papers filed to 126 for the 117 Assembly constituencies.
In all 142 sets of papers have been filed Prominent among those who filed their papers for Assembly seats are Surinder Pal Singh.
Cong (I) who is a former MLA from Majitha Gurdial Singh (Independent) who is a nominee of the newly formed Jagat Akali Dal created by Jathedar Jeevan Singh.
Umranangal who is a veteran Akali leader for the Khadoor Sahib Sukhwinder Singh Toor (BJP) for Banga and Varrinder Kumar (Cong I) for Jalandhar central seats:
