NEW DELHI: The Left will have no truck with the Congress (I) in any post-election scenario communist party of India (Marxist) polite bureau member Harkishan Singh Surjeet emphatically declared Thursday. “Rajiv Gandhi (Congress-I chief) is mistaken He had done everything during his tenure to weaken the left. How can he expect our support” Surjeet said while commenting on reports about possible left support to the Congress (I) in the event of a hung parliament.
“He (Rajiv Gandhi) discriminated against Left Front governments. And now he has aligned with the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Muslim League in Kerala’ with the sole purpose of defeating the Left. What is the logic in expecting our support? Surjeet queried.
Surjeet said that he was confident that the National Front-Left parties ‘alliance would emerge as: the strongest combination in the elections.
