BOMBAY: It is confirmed that there will not be any sort of intervention by the government in the matter of the banned Test cricketers,
The Board which was apprehending some pressure in this regard in the light of the Government’s involvement in the Nehru Cup Cricket Tournament beginning in October has ow the assurance that there will be none.
The issue was referred to the Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, who is reported to have said that it is a matter between the punished cricketers and the Board.
‘The banned cricketers have now no reason to hope that either public or government pressure would come to their rescue.
CALCUTTA: The working committee of the Board for Control for Cricket in India would meet at Wankhede Stadium, Bombay, on September 14 to consider appeals Of the six cricketers who have been banned by its disciplinary committee.
Ranbir Singh, secretary Board said here that the meeting has been convened by its president, BN Dutta.
