NEW DELHI: India’s Supreme Court early this week stayed an order of the Jammu and Kashmir high court directing the state government to restore water and power to the Hazratbal shrine and supply food to the inmates. The high court had passed orders and had appointed commissioners to examine the shine situation and report to the court. The stay order was passed by a bench chaired by chief justice MLN. Venkatachalliah. The Supreme Court’s intervention, according to observers, only confirms the Kashmiri people’s grievance that India’s meddling in the internal affairs of Kashmir was contrary to the assurances originally given to the people by the Indian authorities. Also, the intervention is interpreted as a complete mockery of the human rights protection offered by India‘s courts,
