KATHMANDU: Indian Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar said on Thursday there were no policy constraints in determining his country’s relations with Nepal.
“In determining relations between India and Nepal we have no policy constraints and I do not see why foreign policy matters should be brought into the picture when we are dealing with the problems of Nepal and India” he said in an interview with radio Nepal and Nepal television.
He said the two countries had been trying to understand each other’s problems and “are trying to cooperate with each other to solve these problems.”
“Sometimes it is unnecessarily exaggerated. But I do not think there is any difficulty in cooperating with each other he said. Prime Minister Shekhar said India wanted to help Nepal in its developmental activities. Simultaneously India also required the natural resources in Nepal. “So it is mutual benefit that guides our moves in this region” he said.
