ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s president, General ZiaulHaq has conferred the country’s highest civil award; “Nishan e Pakistan” on the former Indian Prime Minister Morarji Desai. This is the first time that an Indian has been honored by Pakistan. This award has been given to the ex-Prime Minister of India in recognition of his commitment to maintain cordial relations, between the two countries, during his tenure as prime minister of India.
JALANDHAR; Mr. Satnam Singh, a member of the Executive Committee of SGPC has resigned in protest against the appointment of Prof. Darshan Singh Ragi as the New Jathedar of Akal Takhat. He has sent his resignation to the acting president of SGPC. He said that the elected representative of the Panth has made a mockery of the Akal Takhat by playing into the hands of anti Panthic forces.
