COLOMBO, Sept 4, Reuter: Eight Sri Lankan Soldiers and a Policeman were killed on Sunday in an ambush by Tamil Guerrillas in the northern Vavuniya district, police said.
The rebels, fighting for a separate state in northern and eastern Sri Lanka, used mortars and small arms in the attack at Cheddikulam, officials said. Three soldiers were also wounded.
Three soldiers were killed in a separate rebel ambush in Panmedawachchi in the Eastern Trincomalee District on Saturday military officials said.
