CHANDIGARH (PTI): Nine militants were among 10 persons killed in separate incidents in strife torn northern Indian state of Punjab on June 22.

Two unidentified militants were killed in an encounter with security men in village Jalalabad while two others were killed in a separate encounter in village Palasur in Tam Taran police district.

In another encounter two unidentified militants were killed with a police party near village Shankar in Jagraon police district. One .12 bore SBBL gun, five KG explosive material and some cartridges were recovered from the spot.

In yet another incident an unidentified militant was killed near village Ladhpur in Gurdaspur district while another identified as Rashpal Singh alias commando ‘was killed near village Jahangir in Majitha police district. One  32 bore revolver one mouser, one magazine, one KG explosive material and over 50 cartridges of AK-47 were recovered from the spots.

 A militant Santokh Singh was killed in an exchange of fire between security men and militants when being escorted to a village, Lahori Mall, for recovery of arms and ammunition in Amritsar district. .

Gunmen also shot dead Multan Singh, Pradhan of the Nikka Singh locality in Amritsar district.

Two militants, Gurcharan Singh alias Charna, a militant of the Khalistan Liberation Force and Gopal Singh Granthi, were killed in village in Sangrur district, police said.’
