A new sugar policy is likely to be introduced by the UF government in the forthcoming budget session, with emphasis on export promotion, relicensing and decontrol according to sources. The new policy envisages promotion of sugar exports on the Open General License with a view to attaining India’s place as a major player in the international sugar trade.
