DURHAM N.C. A new Gurdwara was formally inaugurated in the heart of the city here on February 16, 1986. The dedication ceremony was performed in the presence of a large Sangat. ‘Some Sikhs had especially traveled long distances to participate in the auspicious function.
The state of North Carolina has about sixty Sikh families living in various towns and cities throughout the state. The building has cost around half a million and collecting this huge amount was a Herculean task. All members of the Sangat contributed towards the successful completion of the project in every way. This is the only Gurdwara in the state and it will go a long way in meeting the spiritual and socioreligious needs of the Sadh Sangat. The building is magnificent and spacious and Sikh Panth is happy and proud to have another home. The Sangat deserves praise for their achievement and the Gurdwara will provide to the man excellent opportunity and place for enriching their lives through Gurbani,
It is really creditable that every member of the Sangat there is capable of reciting Kirtan. This has been made possible through the efforts of Giani Narain Singh who is a’ well known Kirtan Kar from Kenya.
