A Surrey man allegedly caught with six kilograms of high-grade heroin in New Delhi was a hardline pro Khalistan activist. Manjinder Singh Suri was a*senior member of the International Sikh Youth Federation in the 1980’s and participated in anti-India rallies in the Lower Mainalnd, He was also one of the founders of the anti-India, pro Khalistan Punjabi paper Chardi Kala (Rising Spirits), In recent years, he had been running Maharaja Fumiture, a family furniture factory in Surrey. Suri was arrested by the Indian Directorate of Revenue Intelligence at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport last Sunday. He was about to board Air Canada’s flight 897 to Vancouver. The DRI said the heroin was in the false bottom of a suitcase that contained household goods. “With this seizure, we have been able to smash an international syndicate of drug smugglers supply sources from Pakistan and channeling it to Western countries through India.” said Ramesh Ramachandran, DRI additional director-general in New Delhi. He said the DRI targeted the Canadian route late last year when two Canadians were arrested at Bombay’s Sahar airport with a large quantity of hashish.
