BANGLORE: Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) was rolled out in the presence of the Prime Minister Mr. P.V Narasimha Rao, here.
Speaking on the occasion, Rao underlined the importance of self-reliance unscientific care as, especially since technology transfer was becoming difficult in sensitive sectors.
As the white colored aircraft with the national flag painted on its body ‘and wings, rolled out from the hangar of the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), the Prime Minister enthusiastically stepped ahead towards the aircraft, accompanied by his defense advisor, Dr. A.P.J. Kalam, and the Chairman of HAL, Mr. R.N. Sharma.
A large number of scientists and engineers were also present on the occasion. The Prime Minister climbed into the cockpit of the aircraft, sat on the Pilot’s seat with a little difficulty and posed for snaps with Dr. Kalam and Mr. Shana.
