DHAKA: Bangladesh Awami league has flayed the formation of a new cabinet by acting President Shahabuddin Ahmed saying it is a breach of the pledge given to the nation by the three political alliances.
The Awami league central executive committee adopted a resolution Wednesday saying the formation of a council of ministers with members drawn from a particular party Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) simply bypassed the national demand for transfer of power to a sovereign Parliament as envisaged in the joint declaration adopted by the alliances last November during the fight against the Ershad regime
The resolution said it was BNP’s responsibility to take the initiative for necessary constitutional amendment to ensure transfer of power to a sovereign Parliament.
