Former New York Rangers coach Roger Neilson will become the first coach of the National Hockey League’s Flonda Panthers, a published report said recently,
But Neilson told the Sun sentinel of Fort Lauderdale that he was also considering jobs with two other teams.
The newspaper quoted unidentified sources around the league as saying Neilson will be hired by the expansion team. Neilson and General Manager Bob Clarke of the Panthers denied an offer has been made.
“I don’t think it’s fair to. say that when I’m still talking” with two other teams in the Patrick Division, as well as the Panthers, Neilson said,
Clarke said Neilson is not Flonda’s only candidate to become coach.
“Obviously Roger is under strong consideration,” Clarke said, No Tobacco.
