DEHRADOON: India’s foreign trade minister Arun Nehru who played a key role in getting Devi Lal out as Deputy Prime Minister had an hour long meeting with Congress I chief Rajiv Gandhi here last week.
The occasion this time was Vijay Lakshmi Pandits turning 90 and inviting a family reunion but the two had been known to be to meeting from time to time to discuss politics.
Rajiv Gandhi was asked in a recent interview by Sunday, a Calcutta weekly, whether there was any possibility of Arun rejoining Congress I. His reply was somewhat evasive. He said a large number of Congressmen were opposed while another large number were infavour. “The matter has not come to me for a decision,” the former Prime Minister added.
