LONDON : Mr Kuldip Nayar has, after handing over charge as high commissioner here, asked the government of India to go ahead with the proposed judicial enquiry to determine the circumstances leading to the death of chief Justice of India Sabyasachi Mukharji and the high commission’s responsibility.

“Facts must come before the public so that is knows the truth” Mr Nayar said in a signed statement.

”Some MPs, including Mr Chandra Shekhar, now the prime minister”, he recalled, “had demanded my resignation following the death of chief justice in London. Now that I have demitted office, I hope that the judicial action to determine the circumstances leading to the death and the high commission’s responsibility will not be dropped”.

The veteran journalist now looks all set to fight it to vindicate himself. He was virtually challenged the Chandra Shekhar government to pursue to a logical conclusion the allegations made against him on the floor of Parliament:

The chief justice died at a London hospital after suffering massive heart attack on his way back home from New York. The high commission has been accused of not providing proper treatment.
