IMPHAL:; Guernillas of the underground National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) gunned down at least 10 CRPF jawans and injured several others in an ambush on Tuesday evening at Selungphung area in Tamenglong district of Manipur, officials sources said.
The sources said the guerrillas armed with automatic guns and other weapons escaped with several weapons from the CRPF party and an undisclosed amount of cash carried in the convoy by officials of the Manipur Treasury Department.
The deceased, belonging to the 39th CRPF battalion, were escorting the officials.
Officials of the Manipur Treasury Department were carrying a large sum of money from Imphal to the Tamenglong district headquarters branch of the treasury.
