NEW DELHI: North Korea recently sought India’s help in gaining entry into the United Nations.

The matter was raised by the visiting north Korean vice-president Li Jong Ok Rpt Ok during his meetings with president R Venkataraman and vice-president Dr S D Sharma.

A similar plea was made by a special envoy of the South Korean President during his visit to the capital last week the two Koreas have observer status in the UN.

Li Jong Ok also discussed close Cultural ties between the peoples of the two countries and underlined the fact that his was the first high level visit to New Delhi since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1973.

The North Korean vice-president on his arrival here. Tuesday night was received by Kamal Morarka minister of state in Prime Minister’s office and LL Mehrotra secretary (east) in the external affairs ministry.
