HYDERABAD: The All India Babri Masjid Action Committee (AIBMAC) has asked the government to either rebuild the Babri Masjid at Ayodhya or allow the Muslims to do “kar seva” for its reconstruction.

MP and AIBMAC President Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi told newsmen that after what had happened at Ayodhya no Muslim was prepared to “believe” the assurance given by the Prime Minister that the mosque would be rebuilt at the same spot. “So far we trusted the government and got betrayed. Unless we offer namaaz (prayers) in the newly-constructed mosque we cannot believe it to be true” Owaisi remarked.

He held the Prime Minister responsible for what had happened at Ayodhya. Though the entire opposition had authorized him at the NJC meeting to take whatever action is deemed fit to protect the mosque Narasimha Rao had dillydallied. The Muslim community had lost confidence in the Prime Minister and he should resign. “The future of the Congress l is very bleak in the country particularly with a person like PV as its leader” Owaisi said.

He wondered why the Prime Minister who had described the demolition of mosque as the handiwork of “anti-national elements” had not used the appropriate law to deal with the kar sevaks. He criticized the “dual policy” of the government in allowing the kar sevaks to go scot free while gunning down the agitating members of the minority community. It was a pity that instead of being arrested the kar sevaks returning from Ayodhya were being welcomed The BJP leaders ought to have been arrested under NSA and TADA Owaisi said.

The names of Thane Commissioner of Police A.S.Samra DCP Gulabrao Poland ACP Keshav Sahasrabudhe deserved special mention they said.
