ISLAMABAD (PTI): A special court in Karachi Nov.6 gave police custody until Nov.18 of Murtaza Bhutto, brother of Premier Benazir Bhutto, for investigation of his alleged involvement in two cases of terrorism. Judge Ali Ahmad Junejo also decreed that lawyers for Bhutto, 39, could meet him in his cell twice a week to help prepare his defence.

Murtaza Bhutto was arrested on ‘Thursday upon flying into Karachi, ending 16 years of self-exile in Syria.

He was wanted in connection with the hijacking of a Pakistan airliner to Kabul in 1981] and an incident last year in which seven activists of the Al Zulfiqar Organization (AZO) were killed in an encounter with Pakistan Navy in Open seas.

Murtaza Bhutto is accused’ of heading the AZ.O, which was dedicated to overthrowing the military government of the late military president Gen Zia Ul-Haq.
