CHANDIGARH: Gurbux Singh Dhillon, General Secretary of Ropar District Congress (I), alleged here that Pradeep Rattan and his security guards tried to kill him on Friday night when they indiscriminately fired upon his house in Nawan Gaon without any provaction. Rattan is the son of Pundit Sita Ram, S.S.P. of Batala police district and lives in Nawan Gaon.
Dhillon said he had brought the matter to the notice of S.P. (Operations), Ropar district although no action so far had been taken by the authorities to arrest the culprits. The Congress (I) leader said Rattan had enacted a similar drama some time ago to show that he was under militant’s threat and that he needed special security to guard him. The government later provided the security to the S.S.P’s men.
