MAHARAJGANJ: Former prime minister Vishwanath Pratap Singh Friday said that the move Lo postpone elections in Bihar state was part of a “sinister design” to deny his national Front-leftist alliance a comfortable majority in the tenth Lok Sabha after the elections.

Talking to PTI during his tour of the northern Uttar Pradesh state the National Front leader said the ruling S.J Pand BJP had a common interest in seeing that his party did not come to power at the center.

Singh alleged that these parties were sure they would not win from any of the 54 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar.

He said Gandhi’s Congress-I which had 195 seats in the dissolved ninth Lok Sabha would lose about 60 seats in south and would not improve upon its 1989 performance in the north

He claimed that during his recent tour of the south he had witnessed a “virtual pro-N.T.R cyclone” in Andhra Pradesh Cine star turned politician N.T.Rama Rao is the convenor of the National Front. Singh said his parlies chances were favorable in other southern states of Kerala and Karnatake also.

The former premier also denied the charge that he was mixing religion with politics by seeking the help of the Imam of Delhi’s Jama Masjid. The recent appeal of the Imam asking Muslims to vote in favor of the National Front Left alliance Singh said was a “mere request to his community and also to those belonging to oppressed clashes.”
