CALCUTTA: Nobel laureate Mother Teresa, former superior general of the missioners of charity which she founded in 1950, Monday spent her 80th birthday in solitude at Mother House, the global headquarters of her order, here.
Celebrating the occasion, the Sisters of Charity the world over offered holy mass and thanksgiving prayers “To God for the gift of Mother to society, to the poor and to the world.”
“Happy Birthday to Mother” read the blackboard at Mother House.
The Mother, who recently relinquished charge as superior general of the Missionaries of Charity, said,
“The only thing that would make me happy is that all who see the good being done may be led to give glory to God and be helped to recognize the presence of good in the poor and to love and serve them.”
Innumerable greetings from heads of government of different countries are pouring in for the much loved living legend.
