NEW DELHI (PTI): Nobel laureate Mother Teresa was on Aug.20 admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences here after she developed high fever, hospital sources said.
The mother who was to receive the National Sadbhavna award could not make it to the ceremony in the evening as she suddenly got high temperature. The sources said she is fast improving under the supervision of Medical experts.
The first National Sadbhavana (Good Will) Award was presented to Mother Teresa in absentia by vice president, K.R.Narayanan, here on Friday.
Narayanan announced that the Octogenarian missionary, venerated all over India as mother, would not be able to appear duct to indisposition although she was in the Capital.
Describing Mother Teresa as the greatest exponent of Sadbhavana in our time, Narayanan said she is one who does not desire any honor, any recognition and award. A
Prime Minister P.V.Narasimha Rao, read out a letter by Mother Teresa to him which said there is so much violence today because people have forgotten that they are all God’s children, “Religion is the gift of God. It should not divide us,” it said.
