Dear Editor We should learn something from Canadian Parliament elections, three Indians are elected, two of them are Sikhs. We all are proud Of their success and send them heartiest congratulations. They had the fullest support of the community from all walk of life, Our involvement in politics in America is equally important and essential. We need to be represented and be heard as it is a growing need for the Asian American Community.

Neil Dhillon’s positive and daring effort to run for Congress is certainly a first step lowards the right direction. He is very optimistic of his approach. He could stick to his assignment as Assistant Deputy Secretary of Department of Transportation in President Clinton’s cabinet to the length of President’s tenure, but he has a vision to do something better and achieve it for the benefit of the Asian American Community and setup an example for the youth of today. His mission is clear, we should have strong representation, our presence be noticed, and our voice be heard at the highest policy making system of the country.

Neil Dhillon’s fund raising campaign has got tremendous support from Asian American Community of all origins and faiths. He is invited and welcomed all over the country. So far he has covered 24 States and more than 50 cities, People are really thrilled to see him successful in his venture. Neil is really enthused with this kind of moral and financial support. News media is also giving him full coverage and support on his campaign. Equally he has a good support of outing volunteers working with him and he gets numerous calls every day from youth all over the country volunteering their services.

We need many more youngsters like Neil to come forward and get involved in the political process at all local and national levels.

To his critics I would say may God bless them and more constructive and better sense prevails on them.
