NEW DELHI: A bomb blast in the reservation complex of the Secunderabad railway station on Sept.12 killed two senior super visors and injured another.
The blast in the room of a cashier behind the reservation counter oecurred at 9:40 am, when one of the Supervisors opened an almirah to hand over charge to his colleague as his shift was coming to an end, The bomb, which was kept inside the aimirah, went off, as soon as the door of the cupboard was opened. Both the supervisors, P.V.Subramaniam and Balaji Rao, died on the way to the nearby rail- way hospital. A third person, Chandra Shekhar, who was entering the room at the time, was injured, Shekhar is out of danger. Home Minister Dharma Rao, Director-General of Police T.Surya Narayana Rao, Joint Commissioner of Police Aruna Bahuguna and other senior officers of the police and railways rushed 10 the site of the explosion. Talking to journalists, Rao said that nothing could be revealed till forensic experts submitted their report. When asked whether Naxalites were involved, Rao said it could not be ruled out and everything was under investigation.D.C.Misra, General Manager, South Central Railway, also did not rule out the possibility of the staff being involved. But he ruled out theft as the motive, as the cash which was kept in the aimirah was intact, The SCR has constituted a high level committee to look into the incident.Three powerful bomb blasts at different places in Manipur within the last 15 hours left a small boy injured and damaged the It ham bridge in Thoubal district. Official sources said that a power- ful bomb went off at 4:30 a.m., damaging the It ham bridge lining several villages in Thoubal district with Moirmng town in Bishenpur district.Another bomb exploded in front of the private residence of the of- ficer-in-charge of Imphal police station, A.Tomba Singh, in the Uripok area here late on Saturday night. A boy was injured in the explosion, the sources said, adding that he was stated to be out of danger. The sources said that a bomb went off at island village under Saikul police station in Senapati district on Sanirday night. It was not immediately known whether there were any casualties.
