In an issue of “Panchbati Sandesh”, published by Dr. Balbir Singh Sahitya Kendra, I read the advice given by S.Amarinder Singh of Patiala to the Sikh youth “Two Percent minority has No chance to take on the 98% majority. Hence the Sikhs should Submit and surrender their destiny to the rulers of India”, in this connection an anecdote — is worth narrating.
A scientific scholar, who lived at Jakhu ear Simla, had been tirelessly working for any years on an invention which would effectively cure a certain lethal disease. One summer hot day he opened the window widely to let in some cool breeze. His unique experiment was nearing completion when someone called him and he went out of the room to greet the visitor. Taking Advantage of the professor’s absence a monkey from a nearby tree leapt into the room through the open window and went con rampage. In the process the priceless invention got smashed to smithereens”. Recall this story whenever I think of East Punjab in June 1984, sari Akal Takhat Sahib was the most divine and precious jewel of India, and the holiest among all her shrines. It was the country’s most beautiful” mandir” with its historic links going back to ancient times, a seat of great learning scholarship visited and cared for with the utmost love and devotion by our ancestors. It was destroyed within hours when we entrusted the destiny of our nation to the Wrong hands in New Delhi.
What have the Sikhs like Buta Singh, Zail Singh, Khushwant Singh, Prakash Singh and Surjit Singh done to ensure that either the“ windows of our house” remain shut to keep the political Monkeys of Hindustan out, or to guard our “dharti “Dharam” and “dhee” and our precious heritage, day and night, in order to save them from being ransacked and destroyed by the Security Forces of India whose discredited generals dare Not contemplate the discharge of their duty else where they will be defeated and beaten. We can supply them with a list of places where they ought to act.
Amarinder Singhs advice to the brave and honorable Sikh youth is very dangerous and pessimistic. He neither seems to know the Sikh history nor understands the nature of India’s “majority community” who are poles apart from the majority community of England or Bangladesh. We, therefore, ask him, “Do you mean the same majority community who are rats and jackals in their own country who ignore their own women but hail any foreigner as “Rashurabahu” or “Mother” whose children at schools are committing suicide through frustration, whose daughters are perishing in ‘dowry deaths” by the thousands, whose ministers are plundering the country through bribes, whose security forces are killing young lads fresh from college in “fake” encounters, whose Hindustan is burning from Kashmir to Assam? And we ask him further, “What have you done to ensure that all the “Monkeys” are removed from the top positions in India? How effective have you been with the majority community in getting Chandigarh back into Punjab, or in getting any compensation for the victims of Nov. 1984 riots in Delhi?”
Without getting satisfactory answers to these questions, we are afraid, if the 29% minority blindly entrust their fate and future to the world’s most third class “majority” community and do nothing to ensure their dignity and survival, then they will perish along with the 98% majority as happened in West Punjab and East Bengal in our living memory!
Finally, Amarinder Singh must be asked, what percentages were the Sikhs in Aurangzebs time when they dared to ride horses and carry weapon of the day in the open, when the Despicable Majority Community of India were quite reconciled to being led by anyone with a sword and a spear in his hand?”
In 1947 M.K. Gandhi and Pandit Netra pleaded before Mohammed Ali Jinnah, President of All India Muslim League with folded hands, “Please drop the demand for Pakistan and stay with us in India, We’ll accept you as our Prime Minster!” What is wrong with the Hindu leaders of the same statue, to say to the Sikh leader S .Simranjit Singh Mann, “Please stay in India? You can be our Prime Minister”. Only then should the Sikhs of East Punjab rethink their stand on Khalistan, Otherwise, they are signing their death warrant.
