KHANNA‘ The police at night killed Mohinder Singh chief of the Bhindranwale Tigers Force of Khalistan (BTFK Manochahal) and the Khalistan Tigers Force in typical staged encounter near Gurthali Sirhind canal bridge, along with another Sikh youth whose identity remains unknown. Mohinder Singh belonged to Tand Hoshiarpur district and had feared the Khalistan Tigers Force. After he elimination of Gurbachan Singh Manochahal, chief of the BTFK, Mohinder Singh had become the chief of the BTFK, Chander Shekhar said that Mohinder Singh had participated in the encounter between the police and BTFK militants at Rataul village in Amritsar district in which Ajit Singh DIG was killed.

Chander Shekhar said: that Mohinder Singh carried a reward of Rs5 lakh on his head announced by the Jammu and Kashmir Government and Rs 1 lakh announced by the Delhi Police. According to Policeman Bedi, Mohinder Singh and his accomplice were coming in a Maruti car with the registration number of Jammu when they were signaled to stop. But they started firing at the police party and the encounter which ensued lasted for more than two hours. Chander Shekhar said that Mohinder Singh had close links with the ISI agency of Pakistan and Hizbul Mujahideen organizations of Kashmir. He had been often visiting Delhi, Bombay and Nepal, besides, Jammu and Kashmir. In Pakistan he held several meetings with Wassan Singh Zaffarwal, Daljit Singh Bittu, and Kapoor Sidhu. He had also purchased a house in urban estate at Jalandhar. The DIG said that with the elimination of Mohinder Singh a source of weapons to the militant outfits, had been cut. He was reported to have visited Pakistan 22 times to procure arms for the militants.
