CHANDIGARH: Another church was desecrated in Punjab when about 15 unidentified persons, in underwear and their faces masked, attacked a church about 1 km from Rajpura in Patiala on Feb.15, injuring five persons, the police said. The same gang also attacked a young couple in their house, injuring them.

The assailants used eucalyptus branches to beat up the inmates of the church and injured brother Antony and a Chowkidar who tried to stop them when they entered the church breaking a window, the two, along with the other injured, were admitted to the hospital and were out of danger.

Additional Director General of Police Punjab, Sube Singh, who is investigating the two attacks on a church at Amloh in which two nuns and a maid were injured said the modus operandi of the attackers was same as the one who attacked Amloh church. They injured three laborers engaged in the construction work on the church premises, entered chapel also and damaged holy sacrament and other items. Later, they entered a house and injured a young couple by Pulling earring from the wife’s ears and breaking the arm of the husband.
