Presenting her award winning film “Mississippi Masala’ at the 24th international film festival here, Nair said those involved in the industry must meet the prime minister Wednesday to seek prompt steps for restoring normalcy in Bombay.
“It is unfortunate that Bombay, known for its resilience, is today in flames,” she said.
“People are being butchered in front of their coworkers and we should do something to voice protest against the powers that be who just look on,” she said, appealing the industry members present at the festival to discuss and evolve plans Tuesday night itself to lodge their protest The members of the industry are trying (o make an appointment with prime minister P. V. Narasimha Rao through Rajesh Khanna, cine star and member of parliament, to hand in the resolution to be adopted at Tuesday night’s meeting, festival sources said.
