BATHINDA:A BJP leader, Raj Kumar Garg, was killed while eight other partly workers were injured, two of them seriously, when the escort party of the Punjab Cooperation Minister, Sajjan Kumar Jakhar, fired at a mob in Kotkapura near here recently. The incident took place when about 200 BJP workers were holding a demonstration outside the police station at Koth kapura in protest against the detention of Krishan Lal Shastri, a candidate of the party in the February election. Just then the convoy of Jakhar passed that way and the protestors tried to stop it following which the escort party fired in panic. Garg, vice president of the Faridkot unit of the BJP, was killed while eight others were injured,

Later the police resorted to lathicharge outside the Guru Gobind Singh Medical Hospital at Faridkot, where the injured had been rushed, to disperse the agitated party workers. Some of them   were injured.
