NEW DELHI(PTI): Information And broadcasting minister K. P Singh Deo last week said the state- owned television, Doordarshan, would not be used as propaganda machinery. Doordarshan is not a propaganda machine Like Pakistan radio and television, he said in the Lok Sabha lower house of the Indian Parliament.
“We do our own programs in consonance with our requirements,” he stated when asked what. Measures were contemplated by’ the government in the wake of reports that Pakistan, with the help of high power transmitters, was facilitating beaming of its programs in Indian border areas.
The minister said had its own border area coverage as per requirements.
He said broadcasting was in the Union list and, being a central subject, could not be entrusted to the suite governments.
